No. Guests join any room from a browser with the six-character code. Accounts are only for hosting, following, and tipping.
Anything you have the right to play: movies and series streamed from your own computer, plus YouTube, Twitch, Kick, and other supported platforms. Hosts pick the picture; Multiplex syncs the playback and wraps chat and voice around it.

No installs, for hosts or guests. Multiplex runs entirely in the browser, on desktop or mobile.

Anyone can start hosting for free on Matinee. Pick your plan on the Pricing page, and your first room is live in minutes.
The booth is your analytics dashboard, included on Studio: attendance, watch time, and rewatch stats after every screening.
Yes, on Studio. Add a moderation crew and co-hosts to share room controls, so you're never running the whole night solo.
Followers get a knock the moment your doors open, available on Marquee and Studio. One tap follows; no spam, just a heads-up when your room starts.
Plans, payouts, and the fine print.
Matinee is $0: rooms up to 10 seats, 720p sync. Marquee is $7/mo: rooms up to 100 seats, 4K sync, follower alerts, and a tip jar. Studio is $19/mo: unlimited seats, ticketed premieres, co-hosts, and the booth.
Yes. Hosts keep 90% of every tip and ticketed premiere. Multiplex takes a 10% platform cut, and payouts land weekly.
Yes, from your account settings. Upgrades apply immediately; downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing cycle.
Guests always join free. The only exception is a ticketed premiere on Studio, where the host sets a price for that specific screening.
Frame-perfect timing.
Playback is locked server-side to the frame. If a guest drifts more than 80ms, we quietly snap them back in sync.
Rejoin with the same room code and you'll snap back to the current frame automatically, no need to find your place.
Yes. Multiplex runs in any mobile browser, with the same sync tolerance as desktop.
Staying safe in the room.
Use the in-room report tool for the fastest response, or email safety@multiplex.app with the room code and details.
Yes. Password-protect it, keep it off the marquee, or both. Invisible rooms never appear in search.
Matinee rooms cap at 10 seats. On Marquee and Studio, overflow guests enter a lobby queue and slide in as seats free up.
Your data, your call.
From account settings, choose Delete Account. This cancels any active plan and removes your hosted rooms; it can't be undone.

Both live under account settings. Changing your email sends a confirmation link before the change takes effect.
